The Blade Runner Dream
I struggle finding the best words to describe “why.” In the words of Philip petit: (the man who walked between the twin towers using a tightrope) “there is no why.” Simply, this was just an idea that had been annoying me for 2 years.
Thanks to urban nasa hospitality I spent a month living in the middle of nowhere…. deep within German countryside hunting down different wind turbines every single day.
It took approximately 3 weeks to find this particular wind turbine. Sitting above a remote valley with not a cloud in sight, the setting fit the dream perfectly.
I had planned to blade run off one of Germanys higher wind turbines to give me more opportunity to exit at a safe height.
I was concerned that if I reached the very end of the blade… by the time I exit it would be pointing too far down... opening at a lower height.
When I fly in airplanes I often marvel at the clouds. They look almost like hidden worlds, a different dimension. What would it feel like to run across them? I felt that when I ran along the blade.
Near to the end I was able to instinctively pick my point to exit and I was happy with the height needed to open safely.
After landing I did it one more time and couldn’t sleep for 2 days… I didn’t want to wake up.
